Has the McCain camp figured out that what motivates the base does not

Reagan won the independents by being fiercely conservative. That's the winning recipe for McCain. But that's not who McCain is. McCain is a moderate at heart, and if he can't win the independents being moderate, then he can't win using that strategy.
 
motivate the much needed Independents? ..to support him?

Will he deliver a message to Independents or will he stick to preaching to the choir?
