Has anyone watched and read Girl, Interrupted?

If so, what are the strongest similarities between the literary source
and the film adaptation?
i realize that both the novel and film follow Susanna's journey through her stay at the hospital and that both have the characters names still remain the same.
but is there anything i am missing?
