Has anyone used the Melafix Antibacterial Fish Remedy? (all natural)?

I was told to use this product for my fish tank, now my question is about the directions. It states to remove the activated carbon from the filter, now do I leave that out for the duration of treatment for 7 days or just remove it when I add the medicine? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I know I'm supposed to remove it but do I leave it out for all 7 days while I'm treating it or put it back in after I put the medicine in.
