Has anyone renewed recently

Every single time I have EVER called verizon I get a different answer to the same question (even something as simple as the amount on my bill). They CAN give you the same price as online (however it may be by mail in rebate and not "instant"). They CAN give you the same deals in the stores (as long as it is a real verizon store), on the phone, and online. They only headache is you have to know more about their system than they do (remember that most the people you are dealing with have had 2-3 days training and only on the very very basics and have the goal to deal with you and move on the the next person as quick as possible). So if your question is not on their flip charts it "can't be done" unless you can point them in the right direction (or happen to get a friendly and/or smart tech, which does happen from time to time).
 
FYI You are competely wrong about he Verizon Wireless training. It last aprox 5months, and there goal is the ensure First Call Resolution and a Net Promoter Experince. However, as just like many companies, verizon employes 60,000+ people. Unfourtantly not everyone likes thier job or cares about the people they deal with and with ever changing policies (like every other day) it can be sometimes hard to keep up with the new pricing and procedures.
 
To be honest every time I have called they have helped me and I must say were very polite. I really like verizon. I know people have had problems but I never had one. I use there cell phone, Fios home phone, Fios internet and I am having verizon Fios tv installed in a few weeks. Just became available.
