Has anyone had their little boys learn to ride on a girls bike rather than boys bike?

As I watched my 3 year old pedal around the thrift store on a little pink Dora bike he found, I wondered if it would be better for little boys to learn to ride a bike on a girls bike since it has a lower cross bar. In theory, shouldn't that make them a whole lot less likely to hurt their sensitive areas when they fall? I mean, on boys bikes, that cross bar is right _there_ when they fall, much more likely to inflict pain than the lower bar on girls bikes. Am I alone in this thinking?

(Yes, I know that the bar on girls bikes is lower because girls used to wear dresses all the time, but now that that doesn't really apply anymore... whadda ya think?)
The _structure_ of the bike... not the color... lol... assuming girls bikes came in colors that weren't girly...
