Hi everyone!

I went to the doctor today and finally they have given me some type of diagnosis. They feel all of my pain is coming from injury to my SI Joint and to the piriformis muscle. They are talking about injections if they can get it approved through WC.

If anyone out there has any information on this...I would love to hear about it!

Hi! I have arthritis in my SI joints, and I have had the injections. They have helped me a lot! I also take other meRAB for my arthritis, but I usually get these injections a couple times per year. I would recommend finding the best doc you can to do your injections-I have heard that this is a hard joint to inject. Also, make sure your doctor does them with fluoroscope (active xray). Take care, Kera4

I have what is most likely SI joint pain (or piriformis) and have found a tiny relief from pain meRAB and a tens unit. The one thing that has helped me greatly is an SI belt. I have a really nice one and I literally could not walk at all before I got this. So I would highly recommend that. I also have something called a sacrowedgy -- but I think this varies more as far as seeing any relief from the pain. Google it, I lay on it when I'm in bed and it just relieves pressure in that area and the sciatic nerve.

I think injections for many type of spine pain issues are definitely worth it! I've had them for both neck and back and some have helped more than others. They are a relatively simple and minimally invasive treatment. You'll hear from some people that they worked miracles and some will say they had no effect - but the are definitely worth the effort.

ok, I have SI joint problems....I fell several yrs. ago, and had PAIN which the Drs. thought was from this or that...had every injecton you can name...including the SI joint. Well, it was finally diagnosed as SI joint disruption...and nothing helped...so I had fusion surgery in 6/08...It has helped my leg/toe pain, but unfortunately I still have the back pain....the fusion has not fused...my Dr. has told me I need to have surgery again, to clean out the non fused area and start all over again....YIKES... I can stay as I am, in pain, or have the surgery done again. I am in shock...but, I am trying to decide what to do...no surgery is pleasant, but this one is beyond anything I have ever experienced....seriously. I am trying to decide what I should do....in the meantime, I am on pain meRAB. several times a day.....how many more years can I stay on meRAB????? What will they do to my body??? ( I did not become dependent (addicted!!!) to the meRAB. before....but we are talking the rest of my life...and I am concerned about the effects on my body)
If the injections are working for you, have them....and dance a happy dance that they are working for you. Do not rush into SI joint surgery....it is rough...very very rough... We all sign the papers before surgery...explaining all of the problems that may arise from the surgery...but I never considered a non-fusion....it is a major problem...Dr. has said that I am the third patient who has had a nonunion....and that the other two people have done well after they had the second surgery....that is nice to hear....BUT, can I have a failer again???? That is scary.
Good luck to you....
