Has anyone had experience moving (interstate) with tropical fish?

If so, can you tell me if it was successful? And what tips you may have for us? We are moving interstate (we're in Australia) in June and I really want to bring my fish with us. They are not expensive but they are my pets! My partner is totally against the idea.

Any ideas?
