Has anyone had a desire?

Has anyone had a desire to do something but you were told you couldn't do it? I'm 25 I've always had a desire to ride a bike. The problem is I have a hearing loss in my left ear. I have balance issues from it. My mom is concerned about me bike riding because a doctor years ago said I wouldn't be able to balance on it I also couldn't hear what's going on in my left side while doing it. She said I'm too old to start I survived not doing it all these years. I could put a mirror on the handle of the bike there are adult biking classes. Shall I stick up for myself as much as I can what do I do if she gets mad about it? I also want to rollarblade and learn how to skate. I keep falling on rollarblades. It wouldn't be so horrible if I just tried bike riding, rollarbladig or skating. I read about a famous deaf blind figure skater. I hope she'll at least let me try it. My mom prefers me to ride a Tricycle but I find them awkward.
