It's hard to describe, but when I am hearing people's voices (and all sounds, such as a door opening) my brain interprets them as angry, or frustrated. Although, in reality, it is normal conversational tone. I am aware the sounds are normal, and that the people are speaking normally, but everything just sounds sharper and more forceful.
And it only lasts for a few minutes. Throughout my life, this has occured only on about 3 occasions. So it's pretty rare anyway. It happened during my childhood, and most recently a few years ago, so I doubt it's symptom of an acute disease.
It doesn't scare or annoy me, I am just interested to find out if there's a scientific term for this phenomenon, or if I'm alone in this experience.
It's as if my brain is misinterpreting the denotation of sounds and voices, so they they change emotional context. If I had to give an analogy, it would be like applying a certain filter to a noise in a sound editing program. It's like my brain or ear interprets the pitch slightly wrong or something.
Thank you!
