Hey there,

I am having a cystoscopy done on the 18th of this month due to chronic UTI, so my doc wants to check inside to see whats going on, however i am scared of this risks involved with that.

Has anyone here been through this before?

Your thoughts would be great.

Hi Elle,

I had one done. It was uncomfortable, but only lasted a few minutes. I also had
constant UTI's. The test didn't really show anything. I understand your anxiety about the test but it really is over quickly. My bladder was uncomfortable for a few hours afterwards, but not unbearable.

Best wishes,

JB

had many.....full bladder helps and relax as much as possible.going through the prostate is the hard part.i ask for anti biotics afterwards as i did get an infection after one .

Elle,

You don't need to be put under for the procedure. It really is over with quickly. Do you have any anti-anxiety meds you could take before the procedure?
Mine was done in the doctors office and I know they do not have an anestesiologist (I know that's spelled wrong) on staff. Try to stop worrying about it so much. I'm not an especially tough when it comes to pain and I did
fine. Like I said, it was uncomfortable but not what I'd call painful.

Hang in there!

I've had several. All in all it was not too bad. The worst part of the exam is that before inserting the scope they apply very cold water to the area, which is rather startling. And the worst part of the aftermath is that the first time you urinate after the exam, it burns like you have never burned before.
