be linked to the Hawaii hotspot? When one follows the trail of the Hawaiian Emperor seamount chain from Hawaii back west (Hence, back in time), it heads towards Eastern Russia where it seems to disappear under the Asian land mass without much trace. If the oldest line took a bend more towards the West, like in the angle it is now, it could aim strait for the Siberian traps' location (Which was a major volcanic event as never seen after it). The question would be at the rate that the hotspot moves, could it line up in time and space with the event of the Siberian traps? (In other words: Could the Siberian traps' event have created the Hawaiian hotspot?)

I have been trying to find out if anyone has ever explored the possibility (And if so did they dismiss it has impossible; and what scientific proof of it would they come up with?) but I cannot find any articles on the net regarding any studies. Anyone heard of any such study?
