Has anyone else experienced problems with the tyre valves on Chrysler 300c cars?

I have had my Chrysler 300 since June 2009. Since then, I have only done 6,500 miles. A few months ago whilst cleaning the alloy wheels with nothing more than a sponge one of tyre valves split, shot off & the tyre deflated rapidly. Chrysler replaced the valve, as the car was still under warranty. Today whilst filling up another tyre with air at the local petrol station (because the low tyre pressure warning had come on) the same thing happened. This is the first time I have needed to put air in any of the tyres! I noted from research on the internet that I was not alone and this was a recognised problem. Is it worth installing ordinary valves or will this create a problem with the computer system? Incidentally, I have not replaced the caps with metal ones (this was a suggested potential cause put forward by the dealer after the problem arose the first time). The dealer actually suggested that it was a fault with the supplier and it was "pot luck" whether I got a faulty batch or not! I doubt they will replace this second one as the car is no longer under warranty. What would you suggest I do? Thanks for your help.
