Has anyone done video chat with their kids who are under 2?

My ex wants to do video chat with our child who is only 16 months old. I'm game to try but our child is very active and I can't restrain the poor child to sit and talk on video, not that he can talk, and I'm certainly not going to sit their to talk with my ex; he's been incredibly abusive to me for years. The other problem is he's just going to start pounding on my laptop. I don't have a lot of money and I need my computer for work and school I'm wondering about the practicality of all of this with a child so young. I also work and go to school and my ex won't commit to a schedule with this. I'm all for them seeing each other as often as possible but this seems a bit much for a baby. Has anyone used this with a child this young and it's worked out? If so, how did you work the logistics of it? And if you think this is too much than tell me to. Thanks
