that people seem to be getting ruder and nastier towards each other on YA answers?
It's a bit of a turn off. Have you noticed it?

I've noticed it. Morality is on the rise whereas politeness rapidly appears to be decreasing online.

Humans continue to progress morally.
Studies in human development and psychology indicates a clear arc of progress. Humans become more expansive in their love of other humans as time goes by. Suddenly blacks were people, suddenly women were people suddenly gays counted.

The people who tend to write hateful things on an online board room usually don't feel great about their lives - ie. kids bullied at school turn to letting out their anger and frustration in online chat rooms (bully syndrome) - it's heightened in America where communication appears to be rapidly decreasing (whereas people from a country like the United Kingdom are more likely to discuss things rationally - explaining why the U.K. stands on higher ground morally - the treatment of animals) - adding to this : the average American has only 2 - 3 close friends - psychology

The only instances of rudeness I've seen is from people asking stupid repetitive questions that could EASILY be answered if they had bothered to use the search bar (I'm talking about questions that get asked like 4-5 times in less than 2 HOURS). So in those cases, I don't blame the rudeness, frankly. If people are that lazy, they need to hear it.

Other cases, yeah, it's not so nice.

In general, the internet is full of idiots and rude people and that's just a sad reality we have to face. I've seen smart people on YA and they give me hope, so.. I hang onto that, I guess.

@ dan: actually I think stupidity is rising. But I agree, morality is decreasing. And I see you've fixed the response.. hahaha I figured that's what you meant ;D

@ tessa: pretty interesting facts. I always did love the Brits.. though my boyfriend's American so.. they can't all be that bad ;D

I don't think rudeness is rising.

It's been pretty constant throughout the years.
Our morality is decreasing though.

And stupidity is increasing..

I don't think there's been much of a change...
People have always been rude and nasty on the internet.
There's not really much to be done about it. :/

Yes! It is disappointing... It's usually from the same people too. Like all they do all night is get on Yahoo! Answers just to belittle and be hateful to people to just want to ask questions.

Pretty lame...

Yes I have noticed it. It is a shame that people feel that have to take our their frustration out on unknown people. Maybe they are just too cowardly to direct their frustrations to the people they know. Also, Yahoo Answers is a fun type of entertainment and it makes it difficult when their is rudeness from people.
