I know many people out there who are collecting SSI money for mental issues that are not so debilitating they can't work, what is going on? The government has a system in place that is so rampant with fraud, why don't they do anything to fix it? I'm not talking about the truly disabled, I'm talking about those people who go o a psychiatrist, and get diagnosed as 'bi-polar' or some other lame thing, and sit home and get taken care of by the system. This issue, and the illegal issue are the two greatest drains on our country right now, when are our duly elevted leaders going to do something about it ?
It's funny how the two biggest drains on our economy, welfare, and illegal aliens, are not seriously addressed by potential leaders. They clean up one or both of these areas, we'll be in good shape. How about the whole argument that the illegals are here to take jobs Americans won't do? You clear up the welfare problem, Americans will take those jobs, it's either do that or starve.
I'll tell you what happened in my state with regards to SSI benefits a few years back (my or may not have been part of Clinton's overhaul) there were people collecting SSI for alcoholism, and drug addiction, as these were classified as coverable ailments. Well, they changed that, rightfully, but you know what? The system told those people how to continue to be on the dole, by going to a psychiatrist, and getting SSI due to mental issues, bi-polar, schizophrenia, etc. So, they get the same check every month, and are rewarded for being slackers, as a working man I am fed up.
