"Haruka Nogizaka's Secret" Talkback

I know this joke is used a lot, but this episode (just from watching the screenshots) has so much fail, that a new kind of facepalm shall be inplemented:

The facepalm tree. Here's why this episode fails:

1. That episode description? Full of lies. If you expected Haruka to be the main lead character for the episode, of course it's wrong. This is teh MTV of aniem shows now, I mean, it's her show, not Yuuto's her's, damn it! I can't believe they would ignroe Haruka's idol stuff if it's important. No, really, how low can they go?

2. Sad, really, because the Himemiya parts look funny, but if would've been funnier if it was a side-plot, not a main plot.

3. One really unnecessary scene involving Alice. Was that really needed? What lame and unfunny and sick joke.

(sigh) Look, Diomedea, if you just put Haruka as a main character for once, I make that episode the best of the whole series. Please, please stop humping Yuuto so much. Thus could've been acceptable if his name is on the show, and it's just plain easy, because doing this with another character's name is the ultimate definition of false promotion.

But noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Huh. Really didn't think Himemiya would come back. Thought she was definitely a one or two shot.

Regardless, Random Curiosity said it best "I thought I was covering Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu here, not White Album!"

She looked fun here, but, as mentioned before, should've been a side-plot.

Not even close, because Haruka gets shafted, despite the fact that she's--screw it, this show loves to piss me off so freaking much.

Episode 11: "I Want To Keep Feeling It"
My Ep Title: "Stuck In A Moment That You Can't Get In"

Wake me up when Haruka has more sceentime than Yuuto (Yeah, I already I'm wrong, but whatever).

I only just started watching this. (picked up the "free" three month merabership deal with Paypal).

I mostly agree with the criticisms here. I absolutely devoured the first season, watched most of it on Sunday evening and only stopped because I had to go to bed. Very cute and funny. The second season is not nearly as good.

I have to slightly disagree with the reason. I won't so much blame Diomedea for plot problems. This is an adaptation afterall. Presumably the first season adapted the first light novel (or maybe a couple) and this season is presumably an adaptation of the next book or books. You can't fault the studio for bad source material. And as cute as the first season was I could tell this was no great drama. What passes for drama is very weak and illogical here, it wouldn't pass muster if the characters weren't so sweet and likable. The original author was most likely the one that switched the focus to Yuuto.

You have problems that they don't kiss? Well, get used to it, according to Wiki there are 10 light novels so far and it's ongoing- that is a lot of delayed satisfaction. To connect to the big topic of the moment here, I don't think "filler" hurts anime so much as licensing and running a show without an ending, especially when there is no commitment to eventually animate an ending (the assumption of big shonen shows)

Plot problems aside though, what really hurts this season is the drop in significant characterization, particularly with Yuuto. He is now the typical nice guy all the harem girls get to like. He doesn't have to have a personality or motivation, he just has to react and be oblivious to the girls ploys. This is supposed to be a guy that understanRAB and is annoyed by women throwing themselves at him, flaunting their sexuality and greediness. His sister and teacher have thrown it at him for years apparently. In the first episode of the first season his big problem was that he couldn't stand that behavior. Now he's a milquetoast who does whatever the girls want and stops just short of nose-bleeding cliche when met with the hint of a panty shot.

Well, the author could've at least changed the name of it.

I mean, how awful is it that it's gonna mislead people. Also, she's the more entertaining character. I really want to see her be more otaku-ish, I mean, for God's sakes, her name is on the title of this franchise. How could the author screw it up so bad?

It's not me, it's Garfield15, I have no problems with this at all.

I now notice this, and frankly, I may also notice some other character "derailments":

Mika, Haruka's sister, really likes to give Yuuto tips. I really wish we could see the other way around, in otehr worRAB, do that to Haruka, because it seems funnier.

Shiina was a fun character, but she's too melodramatic now. Bring back the Shiina when she debuted, darn it!

And then there's Haruka's father who technically too durab to live, heck, married, even though Haruka likes Yuuto, he will never understand and is deserved to be owned by his wife.

This, along with your previous theory proves how durab the direction this series took, I mean, why is Yuuto taking the spotlight from Haruka? IT'S HER SHOW!

I can tolerate the near-kissing, but not Yuuto stealing the show. In fact, as mentioned before, I would love to see more of Haruka's otaku antics.

Mika: Oniii-chan, what the hell is going on?!

He's just moping, Mika, no need to have acting attack.

Yes, I saw episode 11. It was a very good episode, actually. It was at times dramatic, but surprisingly, the humor was at the end.

Haruka's father finally isn't durab anymore, and he was just funny...just for intimidating a certain character because his VA also voices said "certain character" you'll see what I mean.

Shiina shined in this episode, being the Shiina I knew back in season one...but why isn't she hitting on Yuuto anymore? Maybe her kissing him might had shushed her up for a while?

Alas, of course, I'm still annoyed, though. Why couldn't we see Haruka's auditions? Am I the only one who thought Haruka was lying when she said she's okay with the audition? It could be of drama, of course, but they could've at least showed us a scene of her thinking really hard about it.

Yuuto is finally being clever by knowing that Mika and her gang keep spying on them, let's just hope he knows that he has to turn off his cellphone next time he and Haruka go on a date.

...and surprisingly, this isn't the finale, but since the finish didn't look like a season finale kind of finish, I guess it makes sense.

Please, please don't screw up the last episode somehow...

Episode 12: "It's A Promise"
(No episode title from me this time, it sounded good enough already)

I only saw the cold opening. WHOA.

Be warned...

She really neeRAB her own guy. She's too cute for the "Unlucky route girl" role.

Ill admit this was the funniest part of the episode. Super Saiyajin Akio FTW.

......

I hate this show....:P
(I mean, if 11eyes was able to have a "scene" in their most recent episode, why can't they?)

So yeah, I just kinda skipped to this episode for the sake of completion and well, I'm glad I'm done. Horrible 2nd season compared to the first. Very open-ended though as RC noted so a third season? Meh, I'd rather they focus on something interesting but with literally half of the Winter season loaded with the fanservice types. I doubt Diomedia will get off of this train any time soon.

3, 2, 1...RUSH!

This looks like an ending to a horror film.

Because Dogakobo has balls. Diomedea aren't even ballsy to even have a kiss between Haruka and Yuuto.

Oh yeah, and Koihime Musou had a much better second season.

Oh, and KM will also have a third season. Ha. Yeah, as soon as that season premieres, it'll have a talkback thread.

Yeah, no, really, what the hell happened to this show?

I'm mad and sad about this season, so much wasted potential. If they're making a third season, please, please, for the love of the Anime GoRAB, don't screw it up anymore. PLEASE.
