Harley Model #'s

The only time there was reference to FLHXI was in 06 they had a carb bike and injected bike. FLHXI was to distinguish the injected from the carbed

I got to check post before I respond...I said exactly what Mdodson said

Goin' & gettin' your own list is the first step on your learning curve & solving your own problem. I have serious doubt that people that have owned Harleys for years are going to change the way they talk about 'em to make things easy for the guy with his first good ride.

Sorry about the long list repeated, I should have just did the lower section where it says what letter is what....

Interesting thing about the Softails, They have FX And FL designators. I am guessing that referes to the front fork. All the FX's have front forks like they Dynas, (not sure what it's called, "Inverted?" and exposed tubes.
The FL versions Fat Boys, Heritige's, Softail Deluxe.... all have the enclosed style that you see on the tourers....
Ok, well maybe not, the Springers all have the FL designator too!

Mr. Jimtjr

Nice post, it now seems there is a method to the maddness!! I have had the same question as the op as to what the bike name is. Not really wondering why someone would put their model number rather than the model name. There is some pride in what each of us chose to purchase and it is best described in a model # rather than a bike name which can be so general due to options. Is it necassary? Probally not most of the time.

Yes I am a noob.
