Hit a road gremlin that took out the back tire and scraped up the underside of my bike - I am fine considering taking it into a shop to look at the rim just as a precaution, but the jiffy stand I should be able to do myself.

The bike is a 2003 HD Sportster - the jiffy stand got a bit scraped up and won't spring back into place. I got a new spring for it but it is still not working the way it should. The manual I have doesn't give a good diagram and I have searched on-line for a picture but can't locate one. Anyone out there with a similar bike be able to take a picture of the jiffy stand and specifically the spring and let me know. Any other suggestions or links would also be helpful.
Can't see anything that is bent, some scrapes from whatever I hit, but nothing bent. I have the new spring connected to the two points that appear to be wear they would have connected, but it is not working to retract the stand. Picture or diagram is really what I need. While it is not directly obvious there is a possiblity that a pin may have been scraped off and just not apparent.

nothing there but a spring and a pin .. sure something is bent.. not much to the stand.. sportster also

Im impressed most people think its a kickstand.Only Harley calls it a jiffy Stand. Yours must be bent. Nothin there except the stand a pin on the frame to attach the spring.

at the risk of having cornhole report me again ,i'll answer this.....i had the same problem with my 95,the pin that you attatch the spring to got bent, have no idea of how to straighten it ,unless you heated it up and put a short piece of pipe over it and pried it forward again.
i found it easier to bend the tab on the stand itself with a pair of vice-grips.
do the regulars on here a real favor and report every q & a that cornhole posts.
