Harley Davidson Sportster Hate?

I just want to know why everyone seems to think the HD Sportster is a girls bike? I get a ton of crap, mostly from people who hardly ride their bikes at all, for riding my 1200 conversion 883 daily to work and school. Whats the deal?
 
mainly cause it's a smaller bike,people tend to think big is better.back when bikers were well....bikers.. most of them had sportsters and would ride them anywhere and make many modifications on them. if you enjoy it then that is what matters, most are probably just trying to piss you off.
surprise them and don't get upset, laugh with them, they will eventually stop. don't let them try to ruin your fun... just ride on.
 
Harley envy or just yanking your chain if they have big twins (don't want to admit you would likely blow them away in acceleration).
 
The Sportster is a wonderful bike for beginners or experienced riders. It's lightweight and probably better on gas than the big twins. Who ever is hating on them is probably too afraid to admit that the XL is a good bike.
 
well i consider the 883 as a leaner bike. Its not very heavy. the 1200 is a bit heavier and not for a first timer but is a bike for people that are not used to a bigger bike and this is a good bike not too big but not too small either. also my mom rides a 883
 
I don't give much thought about what others think about my ride. They don't make the payments on my bike. I don't care what others ride. I don't make the payments their bike.

You ride what you like and what you can afford.

It doesn't matter what you ride as long as you enjoy the ride.
 
dont know, dont care. my husband's sporty will run 480 feet of dirt in under 3 seconds- runs on nitro-methane. We also have a sporty with a stroker on it and my sporty will shoot flames out of the tailpipes. They can say all they want to, dont take it to heart. My husband used to get alot of crap from this one guy that races dirt dragters too until he got beat by a sporty, then he shut up.
