harley davidson keeps cutting out?

Hubby washed it today. It idles perfectly. When he tries to actually ride it and give it gas, it sputters and loses power. No umph at all. Then, tends to die. I'm thinking water got somewhere. It ran perfect before the wash. It's a 93 heritage softail classic. Any suggestions of what it is and how to fix it would be appreciated.
 
He might have soaked the air cleaner with water.Pull the cover off and check the air cleaner Another spot that water can get in is under the timing plate if it's an aftermarket cover.The stock ones are riveted on but if it's been changed unscrew it and check for water there.
