I dont think they are the same. 1999 has a different engine than 2004.
Your best bet would be to ask a local shop mechanic

I would like to know details on years 1999 and 2004. Is there any differences between the two?
(On my 1999 Bike the speedometer is not working, and I need to know if I will be able to replace it with a 2004 speedometer.
I know it's not exactly the same thing.)
