Harley 883 Sportster, is it a girls bike?

I want to get a sportster next spring and I like the new 883 Iron but I always think that the 883 girly bike compared to a 1200. I am I just being silly? And is it possible to swap a motor out of a sportster, say I get the 883 now and then in a few years put a 1200 in. Can I get the motor?
