Hi Back Board,
I wanted to let you guys know that I found out that I do have to have my hardware remove from my lower back. I was fused back in July 05. Well since then I have completely fused solid at L5-S1 and now my body is rejcting the hardware. It is very painful and the doctors said that it has done what it was suppose to do and it has to come out. I have surgery to have the 2 roRAB and 6 screws removed on Aug. 5, 09. My question is to anyone that has been through this is: How long do you stay in the hospital, how long is your recovery, and did you feel better after it was removed? I am looking forward to not being in chronic pain. I can't do anything without being in pain and my scaitic nerves are causing alot of pain down my legs. Does the nerve pain get any better post-op? I sure hope so! After I go through my back surgery and then have to have surgery on my knee too. To many things wrong at one time. Oh!, did I also mention that I have crohns disease also, along with a hiatal hernia.:( But I just remeraber that God will not put more on me than I can bear!!! Please help with some answers.

Thankfully Toni:confused:

I myself have been dealing with complete body pain for years. I have had 7 surgeries including hardware removal from lurabar. 2 roRAB & screws from L2-L5. My body didn't reject the hardware, I just hoped I would feel better. I'm sorry to say I didn't feel any different. But, everyone is different. I still have cages in my back & plates in my neck. I just had a morphine pump implanted a few months ago, since oral pain meRAB stopped working. It's too soon to see any benefits from the pump. I wish you the very best of luck. Removing the hardware is not nearly as bad as putting it in. Recovery is very fast.
