hardware removal after back fusion

what happens once the hardware is removed how safe is it. and how long is the surgery and recovery
 
Is there a reason you are having the hardware removed? Most physicians won't remove it unless it's causing problems. I had my lurabar fusion 13 years ago and my current doctor said he won't remove anyone's hardware unless it's clear that it is causing signficant problems.
