hard case cover --- bad idea?

I friend of mine told me that if you use those "crystal clear" hard case cover, over time might damage your unit's body and give you less signal from your provider. is it true??? I have an N95 and bought the hard plastic cover (NOT exactly fit btw )

If OK, is there anyway to get a good one. Any of you out there has the better fit?
I looked at this banner when logging in to HoFo, their site is this http://www.protechyourdevice.com/servlet/Detail?no=78 . Does this cover the screen only or the phone too ?

I'm still new at this. Being this is my first most expensive phone I ever purchased, I wanna make sure it's safe.

Crystal Clear cases WONT mess with your signal quality
Crystal Clear cases WILL crack easily

I wouldn't buy them unless they cost you less than $.50

I think a leather belt clip/case or silicone skin would be a better investment

there is no truth on this, but those cheap "crystal" cover will break easily, and yes it does not fit well as well... if you really want to protect it, better to get those pouch that you zip it in like that of kruzzel (although i don't like kruzzel, coz i think it is over priced) or those high quality condoms, i mean silicone case, and i mean really good quality, not those cheapo that tears easily... personally, i just buy a good belt pouch and handle it with care...

Nearly every phone I've seen with tcrystal cases have scratched the phones as dust and particles get between the clear case and the phone.

Absolutely! It's also a bit pointless buying, say, an E65 partly because of it's slim form factor, then sticking it into a chunky, er, phone condom!

I use a leather case on my belt for walking around with my handset but, when I use my phone and it's in my hands, I get to enjoy it's sexiness.

I also talk dirty to it ......

.

Since there is almost no separation between the crystal cases and the phone and since the plastic is so hard, it doesn't give when any force is applied to it like those phone condoms would, so you can still damage your phone while using one.

It's all about leather.

I use a hard case for the back of the phone - helps grip enormously.
Wouldn't want to chafe the front with one though.

I've ordered a couple of silicone cases - I'll see how it goes.
Love silicone, hoping they'll work out.

I dropped my phone and the funny thing is, the hard case didn't get any damage but my phone is chipped in 2 places. On the back/bottom and right at the bottom of the phone. Can hardly see it but it's annoying to know it's there. My hard case cracked the first day I used it. I ordered a few silicone ones and I'll try them. They don't offer any screen protection though which I need since I do construction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=230120172346&rd=1&rd=1 They have a pretty good deal here. I would just purchase a few just for back up.

Thanks for your ops guys. BTW, I'm using N95. And yeah, when I tried to fit the back cover to the phone it cracked a little bit. It's really annoying to see it doesn't grip the phone like it's supposed to. I can see the gaps. I'm removing it for sure and maybe just cover the front part.

So, what's the good/best quality pouch ? Uhhh...not too sure about introducing my "newborn...uh newbought" N95 to condoms....too young

What I've been doing thus far is keeping it in my jeans pocket without anything else and I've made sure to pay attention when I take it out to prevent accidental drops. I just ordered the leather case that comes with the APAC version, so I should see it in about 4 weeks since it came from Hong Kong. A lot of people have said they like that case, but it doesn't have a clip for your belt or pocket as I would use it. Still, it's all about leather.

I'll be on the looking for a better plastic cover soon. The problem I'm seeing with this cheap one is that the top plate clips over the top and because of that the actual bit where it clips seems to impede the slider from moving up once it's moved down. Other than that I'll happily take a plastic case of what happens when you drop the phone. I'd just like to know that this plastic case is going to stay on when/if the phone is dropped and I don't think it will
