Our puppy is 11 weeks old, and he is a golden retriever/collie mix. He has been VERY well tempered since we brought him home when he was 8 weeks old. All of a sudden, he has become VERY whiny, and he seems sad, and hyperactive. He's UTD on all of his shots, deworming meds and heartworm pills. He has been fed, has been given plenty of water, and he gets attention from me all day long, since I work from home. I can't think of what would be wrong with him. PLEASE help us! We are so worried! Could he be depressed? He gets SO much attention, love, exercise and healthy discipline...

depressed
misses his little puppy friends
i think there is medicine you can get from your vet its like antidepressants for dogs.

Sad and hyperactive don't usually go together. What do you mean by hyperactive? Is he pacing, running, jumping, what is he doing exactly?

He may just have a tummy ache or something. Puppies tend to over eat and eat too fast. That can cause lots of digestive problems. They get diarrhea easy. He may also have eaten something that he shouldn't have. (you wouldn't believe the things that I have seen dogs eat) You may not even know if he ate something. Think about maybe a pen or a ball or some other toy. He could be constipated. Anything is possible. As long as he is not vomiting, lethargic, running fever, or bleeding anywhere then you should just give him lots of water and no food until tomorrow. If he seems okay tomorrow give him some food and watch him. If he acts strange tomorrow take him to a vet.
