Hi Everyone,
I haven't been here in a while, lots of new faces! Happy Easter to all who celebrate it. I hope we all can have a pain free weekend with family & frienRAB.

I have had a new visit with my spine dr. and PM dr. and they still say the same thing, scar tissue causing my new pains. All the hardware looks great, nothing looking loose at this point. I do have the lidoderm patches and they do help me get to sleep when I wear it on the side of my back the new pain is on. Too bad I can't wear them 24/7. but they do help alot. Other than the patches the only other help they suggest is the stim and I'm just not ready for that yet.

Anyway, good luck to all and your all in my prayers.

God Bless

Carol

MMK just wanted to wish you a Happy Easter also. I pray for you a pain free weekend also. What mg. are your patches? They were mentioned to me the other day but I wasn't sure about them. Do you also take other oral pain medication?

I go back to my surgeon on Thursday and I am coming off my Neurontin because it has caused so much swelling in my feet, ankles and now legs. I have felt really bad today and my back has really been painful today and my pain medication doesn't seem to be handling it.

Hugs to You

Hi Mamapajama!

My doc says the same thing about scar tissue and my fusion. I use Lidoderm at night as well for my feet and sometimes a patch on my lower back during the day. You said too bad you can't wear them 24/7. You can, but just not in the same place for more than 12 hours, right? Do you ever use more than one?

Kyma -- sorry to hear you had a rough day yesterday. Since you're coming off neurontin, are you getting another nerve med in its place?

Hi Mama,

Yeah, I have scar tissue issues as well, except I did not have any fusion. Though I can't be sure if it's just been scar tissue causing my recent problems as I've not had a more recent mri & don't really want to.

I want to wish you a Happy Easter and say thank you for your well wishes!

Kyma3.....

Happy Easter......How much Neurontin are you taking? Do you take it at night? Are you sure that's what's causing the swelling??

Hope you are feeling better soon....

LAF:)

Hi Carol,

That must have been hard to hear. Some day they'll figure out how to get rid of scar tissue without it coming back. Until then, unfortunately, there's not much they can do. I wonder if there are therapists who are particularly experienced in dealing with scar tissue. My therapist worked my incisions at every visit and taught me how to do it myself in between visits to keep scar tissue from forming, but if it's really deep down, it would be hard to stop.

I remeraber Shawley saying that the stim helped his leg and foot pain, but didn't do much for his back. I guess everyone's different. There might come a time when you want to give it a try. Are they keeping up your pain meRAB okay?

I'm sorry you haven't gotten any solutions for your pain, Carol. I hope you're hanging in there and at least have some less painful times.

How are the kitties? Are they keeping your spirits up? I'm glad you have those sweet little ones to nurture and give you a distraction and purpose.

A day at a time, dear Carol, and try to focus on the blessings more than the thorns. I know you do! I hope Easter will be a wonderful time of renewal for you, as you remeraber His pain and the reason for it.

Hi Everyone!
I'm so glad to hear from so many. Thanks for the well wishes. I thought the patches were 12 on 12 off no more than 3 at one time frame in a 24 hour period. I do use more than one at a time, never tried on my feet tho. I think I might try that in the evening. They do help alot! They are 5% lidocaine per patch.

I'm so sorry your all having scar tissue problems. It's nto a fun thing to live with. I knwo we all just muttle thru it all and go on with life best we can, what else can we do. It's nice to know that someone in the big world is out there knowing how we really feel every day. Even tho we just smile when someone says How are you? we smile and say ok, they really don't want to know how we are and we know that already, lol.

Your so right, HE did endure way more than all of us put together. and this weekend is a big reminder of what our focus should be. To love & help others as HE did. Thats what we do HERE. This board is so much of that, we help each other even tho we don't know one another at all really. And we do love each other also.

I don't have any babies kitty's right now, I do love them so. I am waiting to get my newest pup tho. She was born on 3/13, she will be one week old on easter. I will get her just after mother's day, lol, how appropriate. She a lil chihuahua pup, we will be breeding her in the future. Anyway enough of what helps me ignore my pain. Nothing like a baby animal to help you forget your pain for a while.

I do hope I answered everyone's questions, if I missed one I'm sorry. Gotta go, it's 1 pm & I'm still in my jammies! I'll check back in later tonight.

God Bless

Carol

Carol,

I am so sorry that you did not receive positive news but please know that I think of you often and pray that you are not suffering to much.

Carol I am so sorry you are still in so much pain and glad you will have a new little one to focus on. I don't know anything about scar tissue pain but I want you to know that prayers are coming your way.

Hey Laf,
I was taking 300 mg.three times a day but when the swelling started in my feet the home health nurse was the one that diagnosed it and called my surgeon. I am down to just taking 300 mg.once a day now and they want me off completely in 3 days. I personally am not sure because the swelling is coming down in the right leg but the left leg and foot is still swollen and I have redness in the lower left leg and my the top of my left foot is very painful if something rubs across it and if I put weight on it. My back has really started being painful the past few days since coming off the Neurontin. I just don"t feel well and will be glad to see the neurosurgeon on Thursday.

I always had nerve pain before my surgery and at that time they treated me with Lyrica and that eventually caused me to have twitching and jerking all over.

I had my 360 fusion completed on March 5th. I started having nerve pain in my left leg before I left the hospital and they started me on the Neurontin later which really started helping my nerve pain but now my lower legs and feet are extremely swollen and they have taken me off of that and said there is nothing else they can give me. I have heard about Topomax but the PA at the surgeon's office said I can't take that but I really don't know why.

I hope everyone can start being pain free but I am glad that I have this board to go to for understanding.

Gentle Hugs to Everyone
Linda
