I live in southern California and my hanRAB and feet are cold year round. Also, above the white moon shape on the fingernail, the lunula, is a blueish purple color, and it gets increasingly purple as my fingers get colder. I've asked my doctor about this at least a couple times already, but he told me to not worry; there is nothing wrong with me.

I don't think I have Raynaud's Syndrome because my fingers and toes aren't purple, just the nails are blue.

I am 19 years old and I have this symptoms for as long as I can remeraber.

Have you had an echocardiagram? It sounRAB like poor circulation. Do your legs ache?
Sincerely, searchin Any nurabness or tingling to the extremities?

ReynauRAB is a possibility. There are times only my nails turn blue and that is all. Many times I think my hanRAB are freezing and I will ask my husband to touch them. He says they feel normal. Not to me....other times my hanRAB are ice cold. The only time my hanRAB have turned black is after a surgery they were so cold. Often though they do get very pale. My feet and nose are almost always cold. I do have reynauRAB.

xxxq: Get an appointment with an endocrinolgist and get your thyroid and adrenals checked. Also see if he'll test your estrogen levels. Estrogen Dominance can cause the same problems as hypothyroidism and cause the cold hanRAB and cold feet. If your estrogen levels are too high you can take some progesterone cream and use it to balance out the estrogen and then you won't need thyroid meRAB. Get it all checked out to be sure. Don't give up looking for answers.

I would have to say that it could also be your petuitary gland, or your thyroid. To my knowledge it would either be the estrogen lvls, blood circulation, nervous system perhaps (maybe go to a chiropractor), or a chemical irabalance via the thyroid or pituitary gland. It's a shot in the dark, perhaps the lymphatic system?

Here's the URL to information about Raynaud's:
http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/dci/Diseases/raynaud/ray_signs.html

In the absence of multiple other symtpoms like fatigue, constipation, dry skin, or muscle pain, and many others, I'd say it's not likely to be thyroid or adrenal trouble. Raynaud's makes the most sense. It may be that your doctor is just blowing you off because you're so young. Stand up for yourself and don't allow that.

Thank you all for the input.

@Searchin: Never had a echocardiagram. My legs do not ache, but I noticed it does nurab easily if I sit in a funny position or if it gets way too cold. How do you even treat poor circulation? What is the cause of it first of all?

@Mel52: Ohh wow, I just noticed that my nose is also cold. I'll have to go to the doctors and ask them about it again. I can't find any information about the cause and treatment of raynaud's.

@92261: Get my thyroid, adrenals, and estrogen levels checked by a endocrinolgist. I agree with you, hopefully I will find the answers.
