Handcuffed by Verizon

I have been out-voted by the other people on my plan and have been forced to choose Verizon as my provider. Now I know that Verizon phones suck, but I'm looking for a diamond in the rough. So far, all of the phones that I've found that fit my needs are GSM phones (Verizon is CDMA).

So here are my critera:
1) Flip phone or clamshell (basically: no exposed keypad) that fits in my pocket
2) Bluetooth
3) Expandable memory

mp3 support would be nice, as would photo/video, but neither is required. I'd prefer a Motorola or Samsung, but I'm open to recommendations of other brands. Money no object, country of origin no big deal, the cooler stuff the better.

Thanks in advance.

samsung a950 hasn't gotten good reviews, read up on it. In the moto world you have razr and e815. Both are good phones but e815 has expandable memory (transflash)....Your other choice is lg vx8100...alll phones mentioned have bluetooth and are clamshells.

YMMV with bluetooth, hackability, etc...

there must be a million threads about this issue and the phones mentioned, check out a search.

Yeah um country of origin doesn't matter because its ALWAYS the United States! Verizon won't activate any foreign phones unless they carry them.

I totally agree that vzw's phones suck; I currently have an e815 and HATE IT. I'm not a fan of Moto in any way, and truthfully, the only thing its really amazing at doing is holding on to a signal (which in reality, all GSM phones do much better but thats another story for another time/thread). I have noticed however that the new verizon nokia gets better reception than the e815, so (i think its like the 6xxxi) that just proves that motorla isn't that great.

I was outvoted last year (actually it was a tie so it went to the females ) for GSM and i'm thinking its going to happen again this year however I'm moving to a new apartment where vzw doesnt have very good service, and has no service in the basement so i'm hoping for the best !
