Hand cyst

I have what appears to be a ganglion cyst in my right hand. Whenever I move my hand, it moves, too which is kinda gross. I noticed it a few months ago but, over time it looks like it has gotten a little bigger and it's just annoying. I'd like to have it drained or whatever is done for this problem but, I've never had this sort of thing before and I'm not sure where to go. I feel kinda silly making a doctor's appt. for something so minor but, it's pretty annoying so, do I go to my family doctor? Or should I go to a demratologist or a orthapaedic doctor?
Any ideas or thoughts?
Thanks!

I had one also and it finally was pressing on a nerve so I had to go to the dr. I went to a hand surgeon and he cut it out. My friend had one and he put a book on top of his wrist and then hit the book. It worked for him. I just didn't think that was the way to go.

They are sometimes called "Bible bump" because people did actually do the book thing to get rid of them - and the Bible is usually the biggest book they had. You might also, depending on where it's located, try taping it firmly with athletic tape (available at any drug store). I had one on the top of my foot and did that. It pulled the cyst together and causes the fluid to dry up and the top of the cyst to attached to the bottom.

If that doesn't work, then the hand surgeon would be appropriate.
