Hammer horror films set to return

'Cult Hammer horror films will return to the big screen after the company behind the movies was sold to a group headed by Big Brother creator John de Mol.
At least $50m (

Fantastic news,as Hammer are an important piece of British post-war culture.

Bit sad that the studio is now not British, but good news.

Don't get too excited. The glorious return of Hammer is announced every time the studio/name changes hanRAB.

The very most I'm expecting from this new Hammer is a set of DVRAB of the old classics.

Agreed.

There was big news about the return of Hammer 10 ,15 and 20 years ago.

I cant see why they want to bother anyway.
Hammer made some classics but the Hammer name is associated with type of horror film thats unlikely to be popular with the mass market today.

In case you did not know one of the last remaining studios to release their Hammer stuff (assuming you have the R1 set of 8 Universal classics) is Columbia and their owners ,Sony have signed a deal with DD Home Video for 13 Columbia Hammer films including The Gorgon and Never Take Sweets From A Stranger.
At the moment enquiries are being made into the condition of some of the rarer films that have not seen the light of day since the 70's ,so a release for all 13 licensed is far from certain
