YLA G, a member of the Xbox Elite Team from Belgium, posted the following info on his blog:

On December 20 a new Halo 3 video will be available on marketplace. It’s a 7 minute video that will be released next week. It highlights the emergence of the Brutes as playable characters in the game. It touches on their skills, origins, and how they are being created. It has about 2 ? minutes of gameplay footage.

It's hard to believe we'll get a brand new seven minute video next week unless this is a special Christmas present from Microsoft and Bungie. Hopefully, it is true.

However, we hope the Brutes part is not true. We don't want to play once again as another character unless this is for co-op multiplayer or what would be even better, to step into someone else's campaign to take the place of Covenant enemies.
 
I didnt mind playing as the Arbiter all that much in 2. Would I have rather played as the chief the whole game? Yes, but the Arbiter was an interesting enough story line and I'm sure it will all tie in together in 3.
 
it'd be nice if ALL the characters were playable in multiplayer. having a battle where it's teh flood vs humans vs covenant would be every man/alien for themself!
 
i think the only way to have another playable character would be to make a whole new story thats different than chiefs, and make it on another disc or something. make him have different abilities and such. playing as one character and then another was lame. finish chiefs story and then you can put in another disc and play a whole different story for the most part with another character, no run the two together the whole time. but anything like halo 2, and its gonna suck. if its gonna be like that, id rather have all chief all the time.
