the Weinstein brothers are already planning a return to Haddonfield in 2010 with Halloween 3D. While Halloween II only opened at the #3 spot this weekend, had it not started a fist fight with The Final Destination, it would have easily taken the top spot and make over $30m. The Weinsteins knows this and are quickly making plans for a third film. Read on for the skinny and then talk about who you'd like to see take the reigns. Who could make Myers even better?

From the LA Times:

A 3D Halloween sounRAB horrible. Whereas the Final Destination films are material that can work in 3D, the Halloween films should always be about atmosphere, not a gimmick that lets me see Michael Myers knife pointing out of the screen. I just can't see how 3D would work with Halloween.

Since Rob Zombie's reimagining/rip off it's been all downhill (actually, it's been downhill since the dismal Halloween: Resurrection...).

Halloween really deserved a much better remake than it got, but then there's not much you can do to remake a flawless original.

It's a shame really. The original was great but all the sequels were terrible with the ironic exception of Season of the Witch, a completely different movie.

Even Friday 13th managed a couple of good installments as it got into its stride at parts 3 and 4, while A Nightmare On Elm St managed to stay consistently good even through it's worst entries.

I am going to take a guess and say the numbers at the end of your username stand for the year you were born. In which case go take the fricking hoody off, pull up your pants and start watching real films.

abit unfair:confused:, i own the original halloween on dvd and like it alot more than the remake, i just think the remake took alot of criticism when it really wasnt too bad especially compared to most recent horror films. And just what do you call "real" films? I am a film lover i like a diverse selection of movies.

Quite out of order! I'm a HUGE fan of the original Halloween, and I actually loved the remake! Nothing wrong with that at all. No need to be rude to people!

3D halloween is just about the worst idea ever. They just need to cut their losses now as the 2nd one seems to be getting panned by nearly everybody.

I agree with that. Actually, never mind not doing a 3D Halloween, they should just stop making new ones altogether. The series has gone so far downhill since the brilliant original; since then there's only been 1 good sequel, and Rob Zombie's remake hit an all-time low.

Surprised they are making another one that isn't DTV.H2 has opened at 17 million and probably won't make much more in the states. Now that can't make much profit for a movie which cost 15 million + promotion costs + prints.Very financially risky producing another one...

As for H2:it's not even as good as the remake, and that was highly uneven.

Cannot believe Rob Zombie is making another remake (The Blob) after being critically panned in his last two movies. The guy neeRAB a good fresh movie (horror or not) to restore whatever credibility he had remaining.

I'm a big Halloween fan, and originals for me are not built on gore or most shocking killing. It's about the suspense and tension of knowing Michael is there and is going to get you.

I love the origanal movies up to h20. The resturection one was awful, and so was the re-make, even though it was intresting to see myers inside the mental hospital. Didnt know a second one had been made though.

Sorry if I seemed rude, that was not my intention I was being sarcastic. I am against all remakes and have voiced my opinion regarding the halloween remake on here a few times. I agree with you that alot of horror now is just pathetic it is all the same film just renamed. Why is it that we now have basically around 50 films that are all The Ring, just with different titles? The poor shape of horror is something that neeRAB to be fixed quickly or the genre will die.

Late October, as we brits seem to understand that Halloween is infact in October and not August. Funny we get it right and the Americans dont considering to them Halloween is bigger than Christmas.

Thats very true, i cant remember the last horror film that was actually decent:confused:, probably saw but thats been flogged to death now. Im still yet to see Drag Me To Hell though which has had some great reviews. I dont see the genre improving anytime soon though as all these awful films are made on a small budget and reap good profits from the gullable teen audience (genrally:p) that will go see them.

Not really. The Halloween movies released during the summer months have fared better at the box office than the sequels released in late September/October.Not to mention the Saw series now has the monopoly on Halloween week.

it made 17m in the states in its first weekend after costing 15m to make.

its still to open in the rest of the world.

it will be massively in profit (even taking into account marketing etc)

what's annoying is that this is ANOTHER reboot of halloween. not even a sequel to rob zombies halloween 2 but a brand 'new' version of the original halloween!

a year after the sequel to the remake haha!

pretty soon they will be releasing the remake before even making the original...
