Halloween 2007

I can't see an official thread about this film, only a couple slating how bad it would be etc.
Anyhow, I saw it last night and actually thought it was really good! I love previous Zombie films (1000 corpses, devils rejects) so don't know if that helped, but I really did like the storyline and how it was made. And it really made me feel sorry for Michael lol.
It might not help that I haven't seen much of the originals as they were before my time - or at least I was too young to watch them at the time and never bothered looking them up since - but I basically know the story line, and the only thing that I'm not sure about with this version is the outcome of Dr.Loomis, as he appears to die and wasn't the one to shoot Michael.
I've been told to watch the unrated version of this movie as it's better and shows what really happens though. TO be honest though, as I can't compare both films as I haven't seen the first, it doesn't bother me and I would prefer to just stay happy with this version :)

What's other people's thoughts on this movie?

Halloween 2007 was a so-so horror film, nowhere near as bad as the reviews it got although like you say if you like Rob's other work you'll like this.

The problem with the movie is it was absolutely impossible to remake Halloween and this is why it got such a bashing.
The original is a cinematic masterpiece where as Halloween 2007 is a fairly decent horror flick.

Sure it has it's flaws but it is much better then Halloween 3,5,6 and 8,so to me it can be viewed as one of the best in the Halloween franchise and a decent movie.

But as a remake of Halloween it was below average yet I as stated it was impossible to remake it.

I give Rob credit for having the guts to attempt this remake.

I'm a fan of the Halloween series although i didn't like H5,H6 & HR.As for Rob Zombie's version i didn't like it.I saw an early draft of the film before it was released in the cinema. In the early version there is a rape scene which i thought was pretty graphic & to be honest really wasn't needed in the film. When the film was released in the cinema this scene was dropped.

I watched it twice in the cinema (I work part time at a cinema though) and I've now seen it twice since Monday, once played normal, and another with commentary and the extras. It's a very good film, but I do agree, it could never have lived up to the original.

H20 is the only other good film in the series, just see Halloween and H20, and forget the rest. :p

As for Zombie's work, I'm not a fan at all, and Devil's Rejects is one of the worst horror movies I have seen in a long time, ugh. So, I'm waiting for the remake of Halloween to come through on rental, mostly just for McDowell, I don't expect much.

Halloween 4 was good fun with a nice twist ending and likable characters.

Halloween 2 is overrated,3 is terrible and part 5 and 6 are ridiculous,8 is just boring.

I love the original Halloween and even have a soft spot for the sequels which weren't considered very good H5 etc. I like Zombie's other work but I'm not a fan of the remake. No suspense at all. Everything moves along at 100mph. We hardly get to know the characters so when they do get killed, we couldn't care less.

IMO Rob Zombie made a Michael Myers that you would actually shit yourself if he came after you. The old one just looked like a pissed of janitor
