Hair ruined by the wind?

I am a boy, and I put putty in my hair to style it... But as soon as any wind comes it gets ruined and I end up having to sort it out when I get inside.... I see other people with more flamboyent hair styles yet their hair remains in the same position... Any advice on what to use? I use a strong putty.
