Had a flash flood and my 2" gas water pump is now at the bottom of my pond.

I've located it, can it be saved? Has been sitting there for 5 days now. I've heard do not pull it out until your ready to work on it. Well I'm ready. Any suggestions as to what to do after I get it out. It's only 6 months old.
