Hacks for TX

I used to be very fond of the various hacks I had on my Palm 515. Now, that I have moved to the TX, I have heard that TealMaster are emulating a platform for hacks compatible with the Palm TX O.S. I wonder if anyone here knows of a hack for TealMaster which has more or less capabilities of the old EVEdit hack or the SwitchHack or the EasyLaunch hacks?
Thanks.

Woohoo! Finally a great question!

There are hacks TealMaster will let you "use" under your TX, and then there are NEW OS5 hacks which TealMaster WILL NOT work with. The answer is: YAHM.
http://yahm.palmoid.com/

There are new hacks available that work under YAHM that won't work with Tealmaster; there are older hacks (some, not all) that TeaLMaster will OS5 emulate and allow to work, and YAHM WILL NOT. So you need both, which is the way I do it.

I have 2 hacks running under YAHM, and TealLaunch Turned OFF under YAHM (NoDotHack, NoBeamDialog). I then have TealLaunch turned ON under TealMaster, and the 2 "YAHM hacks" turned OFF under TealMaster. Net result is 3 working hacks, 2 under YAHM and 1 under TealMaster.

Now - the new TealMaster will give you a red "!" next to an OLDER hack that won't work; and a "?" next to . . . . "well, give it a shot but we're not sure." This will give you an indication of something not kosher before checking "activate" and possibly causing a crash. Although I'm familiar with the hacks you mention I don't use them and have not tried them under TealMaster - however, if you check that page there may be something similar "new" under OS5 hack that YAHM will handle, and Tealpoint have a "hack master list" of compatibility available on their site for quick reference. I believe it's under the TealMaster HTML instructions/manual, under an appendix.

The good news here is that with both YAHM and TealMaster on board, you should have a pretty good choice of your 515 "old days" without risk. YAHM is freeware and so are the OS5 hacks; the only exception (I believe) is Fonts4OS5 (hack is free, proggie is not). Cheers/hope this hleps. Welcome fellow "hack-misser!" I'm considering a TX myself but this system works fine on my T3. God I missed hacks, and while I was running SIX total, I've cut back to 3 since 3 weren't being used; it handled 6 just fine, though.

PS: You might want to remove your email addy from the post and PM that info to people if needed; you'll miss out on the spambots sending you junk. Take care /ptl
