Okay so, I decided to join my local gym, LA Fitness. It was well equipped and close to home, plus paying $25/mo wasn't bad at all until I was pressured into signing a "contract". I specifically asked the general manager if it was a contract and he responded saying it wasn't a contract, but a month to month program that I can cancel at ANYTIME! I kept telling him no and he kept offering me lower prices until I finally gave in. Boy was I in for a surprise. TO make a LONG STORY SHORT, the training SUCKED, the staff is unprofessional, I was passed around like a basketball by the trainers, they would argue about who would train me, most of the time the trainer that was suppose to train me wasn't present, and it was getting alittle expensive over the months. I contacted the gym and attempted to cancel my month to month training sessions and I was told I couldnt because I was on a year contract and i would have to pay $450 to cancel. I called corporate office and no one seems to care. What should I do now? Someone help, please. I was lied to and I am very upset and nearly broke.
I recently made two complaints to the Better Business Bureau, and the Attorney's General Office in my state. Do you think this issue can be resolved and the contract terminated without me having to pay a buy out fee? I am so pissed off.
By the way, my training sessions is $100, plus an additional $25 for my membership.
