Guitar hero 3 pc lag help?

the game plays fine and with the right collaboration on practice mode but when i play at the venues the notes are off when your supposed to hit them they are further ahead on the screen anyone know how to fix this or any good collaboration #'s to use for either audio or video

also does anyone know if any usb controller would work with it
and possibly a ps2 one with a usb changer?
