I need a guitar pedal that can give a nice hot crunch of an overdrive and distortion of an amp. I have a fender amp, and I love it for its clean setting, but I play metal and want to shred and play clean at the same time. I currently have the BOSS metal-zone 2, it's a great pedal but it reached its limit. It's partly not responding to my stomps anymore. My other pedal is the MXR fullbore. I love it, but the distortion is just waaaaay too much for me. I can't hear the tones of my chords with it. But I manage to bring it up to my taste by using my fender amp's overdrive along with the MXR, the problem is that now the clean is gone. My guitars are Epiphone LP Standard and ltd EC-1000 (amber sunburst; without EMGs).
I'm into heavy metal (Pantera), progressive (Dream Theater), and all the other metal genres. But mainly I want a pedal that can give me a distortion/overdrive that wouldn't ruin the tones too much.
