I have a 3 year old Guinea pig that has stopped eating and drinking for the past week. In the last 3 days I have been hand feeding baby food carrots and vitamin supplements in water with a syringe. I realized that the last bag of food I bought was rabbit food. By accident. Darwin has been eating it for about 2 months. Darwins eyes are watery and crusted with white discharge. Im not seeing much urination and his feces seems to be smaller and darker in color, almost black. I have researched and believe he has a vitamin C deficiency but Im not sure if that is all. My son is 6 years old and very attached to Darwin and Im afraid we are going to lose him. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. I just don't know what else to do.
Cheyann* thanks for the reply. I was thinking of the vet but I wasn't sure if it was to late. No I have not been giving him veggies...I feel horrible. I gave in a slice of orange yesterday but he wont even attempt to eat it. He will only eat if I am hand feeding him. Would happen to have any idea how much the vet would cost me? I live in Ohio.
