Once you install Growl for Windows, you'll need to take a spin by their Applications page to find the new plugins, install them, and configure in the Growl settings panel—though the Gmail notifier is a separate running executable that hooks into Growl automatically. You can choose specific settings for each application's notifications—if you want to use the iPhone skin for Gmail but the default skin for system monitoring, you can easily do so. The latest update even includes support for applications that work with previously mentioned Snarl, a similar notification platform.
Growl for Windows is a free download for Windows only. When we mentioned Growl for Windows earlier this month they only had support for a few applications, but the latest update and furious rate of development makes this slick notifier worth another look if you passed it by the first time—or you can roll up your sleeves and enable your favorite application yourself using their full-featured development toolkit.
