I have had acid reflux for years and have taken many medications to control the acid production in my stomach. I found that Protonix seems to work the best to control my stomach acid, however there is an associated problem that has been a problem for a long time, that I thought was associated to the acid reflux (gross burps). I did not have them all the time but it seemed like whenever I had eaten a lot of food and had to use antacids along with the Protonix the gross burps came out of nowhere. That time the diarrhea was very light and no stomach pain. In the past I would have to stop eating for 24 hours to be sure the gross burps would not come back. Now it appears that the enzymes are helping my food digest more quickly and this is helping me feel better sooner. I am thinking that the food was digesting too slowly in my stomach which turned it into rotten gross smelling burps that made me sick.
The last thing that I will add is that before Propulcid was pulled from the market I took it for a time and never had the gross burp problem.
