groin hernia repair

Thanks for all of the help! Well, silly me... no wonder the price came out so cheap! That price is only a part of the fee but doesn't include the facility fee and anesthesia. It still shouldn't be bad at all with insurance (under $2k).

I'm asking my doctor for a medication to prevent nausea during anesthesia JUST IN CASE. I've always had the prescription when going under, so I figure I will ask for it to be on the safe side.

I hope my side effects aren't too uncomfortable, but thanks for the warning just in case! Some of them won't apply to me since I'm a female. I got very sick to my stomach this weekend and threw up at least 10-15 times within a couple of hours, so I am very thankful that this happened now and not during surgery week!!! I also seemed to get a cold or minor case of bronchitis and am thankful that my cough is starting to let up as well. The tricky part is that I'm not able to take any of my migraine medicine within 10 days of surgery (since it thins blood) and I did have a terrible headache after being so sick the other day. Tylenol is all they said I can take, but luckily that plus some caffeine helped me (just took forever!).

Probably nothing to worry about, but definately check w/your md about that puking. Its one sign of a strangulated bowel, esp when you've got two identified inguinal hernias. Keep us up to date on your progress, and just remember to be like a queen an let everyone serve you!

Well, I got my surgery done! Everything went well and no mesh was needed for the repair. After getting the procedure done, I felt pretty dizzy for a while from the anesthesia. I slept most of the 1st and 2nd days and now it's the 3rd day. On the 2nd day, I accidentally forgot to get up to take my pain killer, so in the morning I was hurting quite a bit. This was after the local anesthesia was wearing off. Now it's definitely tolerable and I was able to take a shower and can get in and out of bed on my own (very slowly though!). I still wouldn't be able to do to work feeling this way, so I'll stay home a week and a half to be on the safe side!

Hey. GREAT to hear from you. I was thinking about you. Im glad you feel good. You are stronger than me!
Keep us updated on your progress.
Joe.
