Grinding Feel in Gas Pedal?

I have a 03 Chevy Malibu, there is a grinding like feel coming from the gas pedal. I will feel this once I apply the throttle, it only slightly goes away after the car is warmed up.

If I shut off the car and apply the gas pedal there is no grinding feeling.
Anyone have any idea what this is and how to fix it.
