Woo Hoo. . . I am so glad to share good news, so I am starting this on a new thread. I got back home WeRAB evening from having a bunch of tests done at the place where I am to have endoscopic surgery. I had diagnostic facet joint injections bilaterally at L4-L5 and L5-S1. I was skeptical to get any relief, but my pain level dropped to almost 0. It only lasted a couple of hour since they only inject lidocaine since it is diagnostic only. But this means that the 1st surgery ~ "microsurgical debridement of the facet joints with nerve ablation" ~ should give me the same results. Most of my pain is low back. I wasn't aware that there are nerve fibers within the facet joints. These are the small nerve fibers that will be deadened. The surgery is all endoscopic and does not involve any cutting of muscles or ligaments.

I'll wait and see how much relief this brings and then decide about the other procedures if I still have pain.

The people at this place were remarkable. From the techs in imaging, the NCV/EMG tech, the surgeons, nurse practioner, scheduling and front desk ladies, I did not meet one person who was uncaring or negative.

My surgery is schedule for June and I am looking forward to it! I have suffered with a spondy that is now a grade II for about 30 years and this is the first thing that has given me new hope!

That's awesome, Wrenegade!! Such great news to hear and I can tell you are quite happy. I hope time flies for you until your surgery date. And it's great that I guess its more of a microscopic surgery and maybe you wont have much pain afterwarRAB if they don't have to cut thru your muscles & everything. I'm very happy for you!
