such as The Call Of Ktulu by Metallica?
The book that inspired it is The Call Of Cthulhu by H.P. Lovecraft.

maybe some thrash bands?

Metallica likes Lovecraft, there's also The Thing That Should Not Be.

The Four Horsemen by Metallica was inspired by the Book Of Revelations.

Where The Wild Things (Metallica, again) was obviously inspired by the children's book of the same name.

...Bat Country was inspired by Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas, which is an amazing book.

All nightmare long by Metallica is inspired by Lovecraft too, they seem to like him, A LOT!

Metallica seems to be very educated as a lot of their songs are based on books

Avenged Sevenfold's Bat Country was inspired by a book too, I don't recall the title
