Great first car for teenage male?

Looking for my first car. I have high beliefs that everyone is posting this question.

First off, I need of the course the basics. Affordable, Gas Mileage, Reliable.

I will be making constant commuting and I need plenty of storage! Not as much seating wise, but hauling boxes, equipment etc.

I was thinking a small SUV or a sedan with a HUGE trunk.

Can you give me any ideas and price ranges?
