So I like what I've heard thus far. I downloaded a couple torrents and found myself somewhat overwhelmed with songs. I'm sure they're all good, but anyone know of any gems? I really liked The Wheel.
Also the best way to experience the dead is live, go see Phil Lesh and FrienRAB, Ratdog or Dark Star Orchestra live and you'll have the time of your life.
No other DeadheaRAB on here? I'm going to see Dark Star orchestra twice this upcoming week once here in buffalo then the next day in rochester and the next week I'm going to see Allman Brothers and Ratdog in Canadaigua then a few days later in Hershey PA...
It's not even so much the music, just going for the atmosphere and community. It's a non stop party in the parking lot before and after the show and at a festival it's even better.
Any of the Dick's Picks are a solid choice. If you're looking for studio I'd say start with Workingman's Dead or American Beauty, but of course the real Dead experience is with the live stuff.
When I saw Dark Star Orchestra in Rochester last week the played played this and they were cookin the whole time. They were on fire and just when I thought it couldn't get better they pulled out Stella Blue then after that Wharf Rat and ended the set with U.S. Blues.
Oh man, this is the first time I've been in this subforum but I'm a huge dead fan. My favorite songs by far are Uncle John's Band, Touch of Grey, St. Stephen and sugar magnolia. Most of their albums are pretty solid. Skeletons from the closet is a very good starting album for getting into the grateful dead.
Apparently the boys are getting back together for a tour next spring and doing another benefit show for Obama. Planning on getting tickets for the Obama show and getting to as many shows as I can for any tour next year. Hope to see all you fellow heaRAB out there
