When I was about 14, I developed terrible hay fever which was worst in June and July. Over the years, it seemed to improve, but about three years ago, I suddenly started getting a blocked nose which nothing would shift. First of all I thought it was hay fever, but it seemed to last well on through the autumn and winter. I saw my GP and an ENT specialist who couldn't find anything wrong; the GP prescribed several different steroid sprays and various corabinations of pills, but no difference. I was referred for allergy testing, and the only test which was positive was for grass pollen. Despite this, I still get a blocked nose all year round - it is particularly bad at night and in the evenings. I use Sterimar spray to clear it at night, at so long as I don't wake up, I get a good night's sleep. If I do wake up, I never seem to be able to clear it and quite often, that's it for the night...

The blocked nose is the only symptom I get, but at only 26, I don't really want to spend the rest of my life with it - it is very unpleasant an perpetually irritating. I'm really looking for suggestions for other things I could try - I've really got to the stage where I'll try anything if it will make a lasting difference - getting rid of it completely is probably a bit too much to ask!

Try a NeilMed sinus rinse or a neti pot before you go to bed. SounRAB like you just have sinusitis.

I'm sorry to hear that dcrabarton . I am allergic to grass pollen too and it causes me asthma attack. I use Seretide Inhaler regularly to prevent from getting asthma symptoms even before they happen. It reduces the inflammation inside the airways, making them less sensitive to asthma triggers and helping to prevent asthma attacks. So far I have not had a bad asthma attack ever since I started using Seretide. Hopefully you can find a solution to your condition.
